🎁Jail Mail: 2025 Wrapped 📊

The Doctor 🩺, The Mobster 💪, and The Hottie 😍: A look back at the most viewed, clicked, and buzzed-about newsletters of 2025.

If you’re a Baby Boomer—and a surprisingly large section of my readership is—you probably have no idea what a "Wrapped" session is.

For those who stream music or video, it’s been a fun novelty for years. Apps like Spotify or YouTube give you a year-end review labeled "Wrapped." They tell you the songs you binged, the genres you loved, and how your habits compare to other demographics.

So, in the spirit of the season, let’s talk about Jail Mail’s 2025 Wrapped.

📉 The Most Viewed Article of the Year: The Defense of Gerhardt Konig

By the numbers, this year’s most-read piece was my deep dive into the controversial "no bail hold" placed on Dr. Gerhardt Konig.

In that article, I called "bullshit" on the court’s ruling that no set of conditions could ensure the safety of the complainant or Konig's return to court. In my opinion, the decision to hold him without bail defied the legal criteria.

🖱️ The Most Clicked Post - The Miske Estate vs. The Feds (ft. Attorney Megan Kau)

The year’s most clicked link was my collaboration with Attorney Megan Kau, diving into the complex legal battle over $25M in assets forfeited in the Michael Miske case. Megan expertly breaks down how Miske’s death in custody before sentencing effectively erased his criminal conviction. This crucial timing allows his estate attorneys a second chance to challenge the government’s forfeiture in a civil trial, where the standard of proof is significantly lower than the "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard in criminal court.

We also explored a controversial theory: that Miske deliberately overdosed on fentanyl as a strategic move to leave a final "fuck you" to the government, intentionally opening this door for his estate trustees to reclaim millions in seized assets. Watch the video HERE.

📺 Most Popular Video: Immigration Bonds vs. Bail Bonds (ft. Gary Singh)

Our top YouTube post of the year featured attorney Gary Singh explaining the critical differences between immigration bonds and standard bail bonds. Many clients incorrectly assume they are the same, hoping for the standard 10% premium option, but immigration bonds require 100% of the amount to be posted up front.

🐝 The "Most Buzz" Award: The Instagram Hottie

The newsletter that generated the most hallway chatter in the Judiciary this year was my two-part series on "The Instagram Hottie," where I argued the court was hustled by a defendant who leveraged her own failure to take medication as an excuse to flee the jurisdiction and skip court.

Part one of my prophecy has already come true: she missed her November court date, just as I said she would. Yet, just as before, she was granted a continuance for a hearing next week. Stay tuned, because it’s clear she is up to her old tricks, and I suspect I’ll be writing "Part 3" in 2026.

A Note of Thanks

That closes out the 2025 WRAPPED edition of Jail Mail.

I am always surprised when people compliment me on this newsletter. It started years ago as a simple daily email where I scanned the HPD arrest logs and sent them to a tight-knit group of attorneys looking for addresses to solicit business.

Today, it has turned into a 700+ member community of engaged readers.

Thank you for taking the time to indulge me in my musings on the current state of the judiciary.

Happy Holidays ya’ll.
